Bobby colicked 4 years ago. Unfortunately, his colic was so severe that he needed emergency surgery and had 2 meters of his small intestine removed.

It was very touch and go with him, and at the time I was pregnant with my daughter. I found myself seven months pregnant, lying in the mud, waiting for the vet to arrive, willing Bobby to survive.

We’ve been through so much together that I would have been absolutely devastated to lose him. I love him a lot.

Four years and four months later, you’d never know there was ever anything wrong with him…Apart from a small hernia where his stitches were.

As you can see from the photograph, he is not only my best friend, but now a good friend to my little girl.

The Crusade Against Equine Colic is a movement empowering all horse people to learn how to reduce our horses’ risk for colic – and to share that knowledge with fellow equestrians.
